Things to know about this book:

It’s magical.

It’s wordless (mostly).

I love the spunky main character. She’s capable. She’s determined. She’s optimistic.

If you are new to graphic novels this book is an excellent place to start. (If you are not new to graphic novels then you’ll surely love this one).

If your child is just starting to read or having any sort of trouble with reading, this book is definitely a great choice to try with them.

If you are new to wordless books then you are in for a real treat. Wordless books are the best. They are awesome for kids … who “see” more in the illustrations than grown-ups do. Speaking of grown-ups, sometimes it’s a pleasure as an adult to not have any words to read, to just enjoy rich, vibrant, beautiful illustrations. This book isn’t completely wordless, but it’s close enough for me to include it as a wordless book.

Lastly … any book written by Ben Hatke is worth reading. Any book. Both kids and adults will love his books. If you like this book … get thee to the library to check out everything he’s written. Happy Reading!
