You are here: Home / Support

If you are a reader of this website I would like to say “Welcome” and “Thank You.” I hope you are finding information here that is helpful to your reading journey with your kids!

Supported by Readers Like You!

Beehive Books and Art is reader-supported. When you buy through links on this website, I may earn an affiliate commission at no additional cost to you. To learn more please read my full affiliate disclosure.

These commissions help cover the costs involved in researching and producing the content you read here on the website, as well as the operating and maintenance costs.

Additional Ways to Support

My goals are to help you find wonderful children’s books, to better understand how children learn to read, and to be aware of trends in children’s publishing that might affect you and your children. So that you can find enjoyment and success in guiding your little ones as they grow and become readers.

In addition to buying books through the links on this website, here are additional ways you can support the work I do here at Beehive Books and Art.

Purchase Books Via My Bookshop Page – Plus Access My Recommended Lists of Books

Visit the Beehive Books and Art page at Bookshop.org >>

Bookshop is a website where you can buy new books. What makes Bookshop so wonderful is that each purchase you make will support an independent bookstore. You can even choose the independent bookstore you want to support. It might be the store in your own town. Or a store run by someone you know.

You can also find used books on Bookshop using their partner Biblio.com.

Supporting independent bookstores is critical to making sure we can access lots of different books from different authors, illustrators, and publishers.

Bookstores are curators. Which refers to how they choose the books to put on their shelves. When only a few, very large booksellers get to make all those choices – what ends up happening is not more choice, but less choice. When we support independent booksellers we gain access to SO many more books to read and explore.

That’s why I support Bookshop! When I want to purchase a new book, I buy that book directly from the author, from an independent bookshop, or from Bookshop.

In addition to the good feelings of supporting and protecting independent booksellers – shopping at Bookshop and independent booksellers can enrich your life in so many ways. To discover what I mean, seek out a few independent booksellers in your town. Try the shops that sell used books as well as new books. What will you discover?! It’s truly like going exploring and finding a lost island with buried treasurer.

In addition to supporting an independent bookshop, your purchases through my Bookshop page will support the work of Beehive Books and Art. When you purchase books from my Bookshop page, I receive a small commission. The price of the book is not affected – in other words you will not pay a different price by purchasing via my page.

You will find a lot of ideas and suggestions at my Bookshop page! I’ve put together many lists of recommended books to help you find books your kids will love. Look to the lists when you want to get a book for a holiday (like Christmas or Hanukkah), the birth of a new baby, a birthday, or just something new and wonderful to read. I rotate the lists often so there’s always something new to see!

If money is tight, I appreciate your interest in supporting Beehive Books and Art, but encourage you to seek more affordable prices for books than brand new. Make lists using my recommendations and take them with you to consignment shops, thrift shops, and even Books-A-Million bookstores (where you will find used books at used book prices on their shelves). Buy books used from ThriftBooks.com. Or check the books out from your local library! Because my goal is always for you to find wonderful books to have in your homes!

Coming Soon! Subscribe to the Beehive Books and Art Substack

I am planning to launch a Substack for Beehive Books and Art.

Substack is a place for writers to share their thoughts and receive support from their readers. At Substack you can read some of my articles for free, and other articles will be available to subscribers only. We can also talk there with others who care about wonderful children’s books and how we help kids love reading.

My Substack is new and still in development. I’m still working out what content I’ll publish there, how it will be different from the website, and how it will help you on your book reading journey. Stay tuned for more details. When it’s ready I’ll add a link where you can sign up!

Happy Reading and #BeBookRich
