Madeline is a classic picture book beloved by many (millions most likely). A Caldecott Honor Book (the award given for best illustrations). Originally published in 1939, with sequels by the original author and additional titles written by his grandson. Visit the official website Madeline.com for all sorts of interesting info and products (like the doll of the main character – perfect gift idea to pair with one or more of the books). The hardback editions include beautiful endpapers.

Famous quote

“In an old house in Paris
that was covered with vines
lived twelve little girls in two straight lines.”

Ludwig Bemelmans, the opening lines of the book Madeline
